Brinkman Partners Awarded 2009 CCIM Real Estate Deal of the Year
Fort Collins, CO – December 23, 2009 – Kevin Brinkman and Joshua Guernsey recently accepted the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) Award for the 2009 Real Estate Deal of the Year for Colorado and Wyoming.
The Flats at the Oval is a $9 million redevelopment project, which included the demolition of an abandoned and dilapidated fraternity house located at the gateway to Colorado State University near Old Town Fort Collins. During 18 months of the deal structuring time period, Brinkman Partners successfully reached an agreement with the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Housing Authority for a joint venture agreement and with the Fort Collins Downtown Development Authority that resulted in a contribution of funds from the DDA.
The mixed-use, in-fill project is comprised of 4-stories totaling 56,000 square-feet and includes 5,000 square-feet of retail space, a 3,000 square-foot Sigma Alpha Epsilon lodge space and 47 high-end, for-rent student housing units. The project is a Green-Globes designated project that incorporates a number of green/sustainable features, is currently being built by Brinkman Construction and will be completed in July of 2010.
Kevin Brinkman notes "This project would not have been possible if it weren't for the collaborative efforts of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and Housing Board; the Downtown Development Authority; Colorado State University, CSURF, Jeff Johnson of Myatt, Brandes and Gast, PC; Everitt Companies; First Bank; Aller Lingle Architects; and Jim Sell Design."
